149 with 50a overdive pulley question

I have a 149, 50a deck with overdrive pulley. I cant remember the belt size I need. the belt charts don't address the overdrive pulley. thanks

The, as you refer to it, "overdrive pulley" is not a procedure that was approved or endorsed by Cub Cadet, thus, there is no chart that will supply that information.

It will be a Trial & Error situation until you find the right length. Since the pulley would be smaller to gain the speed, then the belt would also be at least one inch shorter in length.

One of the well known vendors used to list the correct belt size but I am unable to locate or they no longer have the belt description listed. I've had a IH belt of the proper length belt on it for about 3 years but it is showing some signs of wear and I thought perhaps someone on here would have done the overdrive pulley swap and can provide with me the appropriate belt info. Thanks for the info.

How about taking an old belt, cut it, route it, and measure how much you are lacking, add that to the known length of the belt you are using, and you have the needed length of the belt you need to purchase....Then right it down.

what about looking up a 1450 and check the belt sizes for the two different pulley sizes and then get a belt that amount shorter than the belt yours calls for

its either 117465 or 59771 not sure which as my book is out in the shop and cc lists both

I'm running a 77" belt on my 149 w/44A and it is VERY tight, just barely makes it on the deck. With my set-up in mind (worn mule drive and who knows what other gremlins), I recommend a 78" belt...

My 77" is also an Oregon Aramid (aka, Kevlar) belt and is holding up great. It's also hard to complain out the price.

Disclaimer: I wish you the best, but try my link at your own peril.

That disclaimer said, I'm 97% confident that a 78" will work fine for just about everybody with your setup. I also really do like that Oregon belt. It appears to be much higher quality than the Cub belts.
