K-301 Engine Block

Just purchased a 126 as a restoration project for my daughter and I. Previous owner said it had some blow-by and would push the dipstick out. Was unable to hear it run but turned it over by hand to make sure it was free and there was no major rattles. So I bought it expecting to do a re-build.

Well got it home and starting digging into it and found the block cracked just under the cam cover. Got the pan off and the counter balance gears let loose and went through the side. Frustrated for being mis-led by previous owner but that is a separate issue. Now what to do next. Are the K301a engines/blocks easy to come by? If so what should I expect to spend on one? Any good sources you guys could recommend? I need to make a decision whether to part out the tractor or rebuild.

Thanks,
Ryan

You should be able to get a block on ebay shipped to your house for under $100.

I've got a block we could do for that, it came out of a 126 too. PM me if interested. I'm running a 16hp in a puller that had a bad fracture in that area, has been welded and epoxyed with Devcon runnin strong. Mike
