Restored 149

Hey Guys. Just finished up restoring a 149. Picked it up on June 30 at an auction in Coal Valley IL. My cousin and I spent the summer bringing it back to life. Here is the finished product. Just wondered what you think. It was our first attempt at a restoration.

Thanks. Pretend you don't see the rip in the seat...lol
Here's a couple more pics.

I think you did an excellent job! Get yourself a center piece for the steering wheel and it'll make it that much better.

I actually have the decal for the steering wheel, i just haven't figured out exactly how to put it on yet. I'm afraid the v-shaped opening where the steering wheel nut is might show through, or at least make the center of the decal weak. Got any suggestions on how to give it a more solid backing?

I'm missing the metal backing for the steering wheel center too. From the factory there was a light guage metal piece the sticker was adhered too and then a small screw went thru the metal and into a hole in the steering wheel plastic. If you look you should see it. I am going to just go to the hardware store and buy a piece of metal and make one.

The 149 looks great. My 128 is almost finished up too.

Your 149

That is a fantastic 149. I wish mine looked that good. It's a working 149, so it won't get to that state. I may repaint it this fall, I put about another hour or more on it today pulling some tree "parts" out of the woods into my yard to cut them up. It's amazing what it will pull. I use a nylon tow strap so I don't have the chain or cable yanking and jerking. Seems like it's a little easier on one with the the strap.

Always nice to see what others are doing with this good old reliable machines.

Yep it is a good job. They look real nice with all the rust spots gone. don't worry about the seat they are real hard to repair.
