Picture of a QA42 ==PLEASE!
Hello fellow enthusiasts. I was hooking up my QA42 snow blower for the first time since I bought it and I do not know how the chute turning rod hooks up to the crank. On the snow blower itself, there is a "paddle" that spins on two of the four posts that are on that paddle. So, how does the chute turning rod hook up to that paddle? HELP....I'm in deep with a rod and a paddle that I don't know how to use!!!!:banned:
:WWP: Thanks in advance!!! Cub Cadet 123 |

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying. Is this what you're looking for?

Yes Matt....that is what I am talking about. Thanks for your fast response. Where do I get a coupler sleeve, like what you have? Mine currently has a flat paddle in the snowblower part. The paddle has 4 prongs (North-South-East-West directions) coming out of it, 2 are in the cotter pin holes. Is that an original piece?

You're talking about the U-joint, I think. The OEM one is a HORRIBLE, flimsy, stamped-steel piece. I replaced mine with this die-cast U-joint from McMaster-Carr, part number 6445K3. (www.mcmaster.com) You'll need to drill two holes, one in each side of the U-joint so you can attach it to the rotator shafts with either roll pins (what I eventually added to the one pictured) or cotter keys.

Thanks....That's exactly what I needed!!!!
I appreciate both your knowledge and expertise Matt!!! Cub Cadet 123 |

Matt,
I was able to buy the part with the missing piece on it, so I didn't need to re-engineer the turning shoot. On the left is the replacement piece that I bought and on the right is the old piece with just the rotating paddle without the turning rod bracket. Thanks again for your help! Glad you found one. That stamped U-joint is a POS though...that's why I did what I did.
