Carb Rebuild Kit for my Original.

I want to plan for my Overhaul of my Original and I want to order a carb rebuild kit to have it on hand.

I have been trying to find the right kit and have been getting confused about the K161s carbs.

Here are some pictures of my carb. You can see for yourself that it will need rebuilding.

I would like the kit to be a Kohler kit with the intake gasket included.

A part no. would be great or any other information.

Thanks in advance.

I have bought a few from ebay for $8 that have worked fine they don't include the gasket to the block though

I'm going to try and save you some $$.

I'm just finishing a rebuild on a carb that looked like that. And now, I wish I had just bought a new one. By the time you buy a throttle shaft, overhaul kit, throttle bushing, float if it need one, needle valve, you can buy a new carb.

At least from my aftermarket supplier, and/or E-Bay you can usually find them for $125- $200. I'm going to have just under $100 in parts in mine, plus all the time I spent. Up to you, but if I ever have one that bad again, I'm just going to replace it. :beerchug:

OK, but what would I look for?

What actual carb would I be looking for or what carb kit?

Ok. Carbs are listed two ways. By motor application, and by carb number. There are two ways to identify them.

There are a set of numbers here:
Attachment 43172

And a number here:
Attachment 43173

By looks you have a Kohler carb. Also a service manual that you can download HERE, helps identify them. You do not need the exact carb either. The many different models of carbs will interchange. Just so long as the are jetted for the horsepower rating of you motor. Hope that helps!

i rebuilt the carb on my original and got a kohler carb kit at the lawn mower shop

Thanks!

The carb is a Carter Model N #20.

Now I have better information to use in my search.

FYI the ones on the originals have a different choke set up to work only with the OB air cleaners.

Yeah, I already noticed the difference in choke setups. Thanks.
