Question about narrow frame creeper setups
 

I was curious how common these setups are and if they come up for sale alot? Also what exactly came with the "kit" in these? Based on my forum search they are about as common as a ducks teeth and bring good money it would seem. I noticed one of our vendors has one for sale so i figured i would ask.

They come up for sale on ebay from time to time. They usually go for around $175 shipped. If you install one you will need to shorten up your drive shaft.

Creeper
 

Take the time to replace the front seal on the creeper unit. These are cheap and readily available from advertisers. It's not fun to get everything back together only to find that the seal leaks and you need to take it all apart again!

There is a circular mark on the original driveshaft where it needs to be cut. Pretty easy to do, even with a hacksaw if needed. You might as well replace your throwout bearing while you've got the clutch apart too.

I don't know if this is your question, but you need the creeper housing (with gears in it of course), and a small gear that you put on the transmission input shaft. Look at a few past ebay auctions and you'll see what I mean.

If you can find one that comes with the shortened clutch assembly, you'll be able to go back to a non-creeper cub if you would like.

*edit-I'm not sure on prices, but between $150 and $200 sounds about right, a bit more if it comes with the shortened clutch assembly (in good shape). May be able to find a better deal on craigslist locally. Just make sure it comes with the small gear for the transmission input shaft or the creeper gear won't work at all. (/edit)

As far as I know the creeper gear for the narrow frame and wide frame is the same, but have different handles. I think the wide frame have long handles and longer breather tubes.

The creeper gear for the original looks very different and won't work at all on a narrow frame. Usually they go for $250

Well, you will need [4] 3/8ths. x 7/8ths. cap screws to fasten the creeper drive attachment to the reduction cover plate, a gasket; I prefer to use a thin coat of a gasket sealant with gasket and recommended Hy-Tran fluid, or SAE 30 oil for the creeper drive attachment. The installation manual will help.

There are 3 different creeper drive attachments that I'm aware of: two of the three are the same, but take note of the shift handle as to what tractor model you would like to install on. The other creeper is for a 82 Series IH Cub Cadet and has a aluminum body of a different shape. Yes, the creeper drive attachment for the Original is for the Original only.

Make sure the creeper attachment has, and comes with a good drive coupler. I believe a creeper attachment from a wide frame can be made or serviced to fit a narrow frame, again , it's a matter of the handle only.

i got a NF creeper gear with new seal and mounting gasket, input gear, and 4 IH mounting bolts, and shorter complete clutch and extra long NF clutch all for $175

Are you telling me you bought this or are you offering it to me lol. I actually just bought one - complete with the short drive shift for about $183.
