Need some opinions on this 1450/tiller combo
 

I came across this a while back and found out it's still available. The price is at $500 for the tractor, deck, and tiller. It's got a new battery and starter and aside from the seat, SEEMS to be in pretty good cosmetic condition. Now for the bad; I haven't looked at it yet so I'm not sure about the motor mounts but I would assume they are original. The other negative is they are getting rid of it because it died when they tried to mow. They say it runs fine but when you turn the PTO on, it dies. What should I check for this, possible fuel or clogged carb jet starving the motor of fuel? This being my first (potential) Quietline, I want to make sure I'm not getting into something that will make me regret it.

They had it priced at $650 but I got them down to $500 (tentatively, that is). I'm thinking even if it needs a bit of work (motor mounts and carb rebuild), it'd be worth it for tractor, rear lift, hydraulics, and tiller. So to me, it doesn't seem like a bad price but what do you guys think? I'd love to jump on this since I will be needing a tiller next year! Thanks for any thoughts/opinions guys! :beerchug:

If that thing runs, I'd say DEAL! That's a good price for what you are getting. If you end up not liking the tractor, you could always sell it and keep the tiller. I checked the pics of your 682 and you have a cast rear. The tiller will mount to it just fine. As far as the PTO killing the motor.... probably has a bearing out of the deck or mule drive. AFTER you buy it, pull the deck drive belt and see if it will engage. Then check the deck out. Don't worry about the motor mounts. There are several options to repair them. :beerchug:

Yep, that happens to me also. You looked at it, talked yourself out of buying it....but it's still for sale and now it's bugging the crap out of you because it's still for sale and not in your garage. Go buy it, that is a good deal like the others said. Good luck.:beerchug:

That's exactly what happened! I didn't have the funding at the time but now that we're all settled into out our new place, things are different. I'm hoping for the best!

A nice, complete #1 or#2 tiller with gearbox (hard to tell from pic) usually runs in the $300+ range. Rear lift setup roughly $100+. Nice deck $100+. Cub Cadet 1450, priceless.............and free considering attachments...........:biggrin2:

All kidding aside, that's a good deal. Especially if you keep the tiller and sell the tractor and deck. If you figure out the dying problem and it's an easy fix, you could keep the tiller with rear lift and sell the tractor for pretty much the $500 you paid for everything.

Alright guys, I got a few pics and need some quick opinions as I'm going to look at this in less than 2 hours. What do you think?!? I found out that it doesn't start right now because it's been sitting all summer not getting used so I'm going to bring a basic first aid kit to get it going. Other than that, when it quit running I'm told that it wouldn't run at WOT, I'm thinking fuel or J-Mech suggested to check the throttle cable. Any other thoughts or opinions? Thanks!

Quick check, drop the mower drive (mule drive) belt off, and see if PTO still shuts it down. If not, may have bad mule drive pulley or 'frozen' spindle(s) on the deck.
