782 hard to start???

I just bought an old 782 KT seiries 2. After it sits for a while it takes a long time of cranking before it starts. I am gonna try an inline priming bulb to see if that helps. I was wondering if anyone has ever put an electric fuel pump on one of these? What PSI would I need??

Thanks,

RG

Have you cleaned the carberator that would be an easy start, choke works? Fresh gas?

The fuel pump that the motor HAS is cheaper to replace than putting an electric one on it. Putting a "primer bulb" on it is only masking the problem. (Not really sure how you plan to do that anyway.) Test, diagnose and repair the problem. Tune it up, clean the fuel system..... all that jazz.

Bulb primer is in and it didnt fix the problem. Looking down the carb I dont see a choke butterfly. I assumed it would be right on top below the air cleaner. Choke inkage makes me think its below where I can see, in the elbow maybe. Any thoughts??

I suggest going to our Technical Library for Tractors and download the Kohler KT series service manual and the 82 series Cub service manual and go thru them. They will pretty much answer most all of your engine questions and how to troubleshoot and fix the issue. The manuals you are wanting will be on page 3.
