70 engine tick

hey guys I bought a 1963 70 about a year ago. the PO said the original engine was replaced with a k181 (8) from a John deere 200, over the year I rebuilt it completely. while I was breaking it in it has a ticking, and from what I can tell sounds like valve/lifter tick. just wondering what you guys think. heres a video of what mine sounds like EXACTLY, but it is not mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY3mesa0ffc
-Thanks
Randy

Maybe a valve that is out of adjustment? Do you have a hole in the exhaust? loose sheet metal on the engine? Just some ideas...

Exhaust or a head gasket leak. Could be a spark knock, but I'm pretty sure its a leak.

thanks guys, but I figured it out today. turns out it is the exhaust valve echoing loudly through the block when it closes. seems a little weird but, its not hurting anything.

I'm really interested to know how you came to that conclusion? :bigthink:

Same here. I'm always looking to learn ways to figure out problems with my cub.
