Chains or tires
Ok I got these stock old turf type tires on this 71. I want something for snow traction. Looking at something like Carlisle Tru Power tires or should I just buy tire chains?
I really like the look of those tires, makes it look like a tractor. what would you guys do? or better questions which will give me better traction in the snow? |
Go with chains for the best traction on snow and ice. Ag tires are worthless on ice. If you want ag tires then get another pair of wheels so you can have ag tires for the rest of the year and then when the snow starts flying, swap over to the turfs with chains.

Ya, what he said! the ags are worthless in snow. I put chains on my ags and its better but chain lays between bars and slightly defeats purpose. Roy

Loaded turfs and chains.

Loaded turf tires?
|
I would use turfs with chains

Loaded with fluid. I don't load mine yet, I just run wheel weights. The ags are pretty useless on ice and even snow pack, they just slip. chains on turf are the way to go

Has anyone tried using "ice screws" in a pair of old turf tires instead of chains?
