54 inch Blade Modification for a 982
 

Well guys here is what I did to make this work. Not pretty but very functional and does not bind or anything. The lift arm that is on the tractor does limit my lift height range though. Not sure if that bracket adapter from Extreme motor works would bring this up over the foot deck or not to give you more travel. Will work on this more in the spring but it is okay for now to get me through the snow. The mechanical machinist genius I work with has been a great help getting me fixed up on this and I am sure that he will help me refine it later.

If you would modify your arm that runs from the blade so that it angles down behind the front axle so that it would then attach to the tractor's lift arm low pin location. This would give more lift travel. By angling it down behind the axle it should give the arm plenty of clearance above the axle.

Are you using the strap that supports the rock shaft when using a blade? You run the risk of breaking that unsupported lift if you hit something solid...

This link will show the cross member support strap I was talking about.

Not sure how that would bolt on there. My lift rod goes right into the 5/8 hole that is in the lift arm. From the pics in that link, the new support arm bracket takes up that space. Will check on this tomorrow night to see what I have and post some more pics. Thanks for pointing that out, really appreciate it.

Hey Spudder, will experiment some more with a lift rod later on. Right now it is functional and works okay for the snow, but will make it better this summer. Good idea, when I was looking at it,I was concerned about using the 1/2" stud for the lift bar or the original 5/8 hole because of the strength of that stud.

Does anyone use the cross member support strap when using the 2 stage snow thrower? It would seem logical to me but maybe not?? Thanks!:beerchug:
