Looking to join the Cub Fraternity
Hi,
New to the forum, found it doing some Cub Cadet research. I was hoping for a little bit of guidance as I have come across a Cub Cadet 1250. Seller says some of the electrical has been cannibalized so it currently does not run. However it did run prior to being put away. I’m going to make an appointment to go look at it what are some things that I should look for? The 1250 looks like stout machine the intent will be to restore and to build a FEL. A few general questions: How are the 1250’s? Are parts still readily available for these older Cub Cadets? Where would one find new parts, Cub Cadet Dealers? I know it’s a silly question but just curious as the Cubs have changed ownership a few time. |
Welcome to OCC!
The 1250 has a 12Hp engine with hydro transmission and manual lift. The main thing to look at on this model is the iso mounts. Pretty decent tractor. Parts can be found at the dealer and site sponsors at the top of the page or place a want ad in the proper section. |
Welcome to OCC! Glad to have you!

Welcome, BoSox. Put on the coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile.
The 1250 is a good solid hydrostatic drive tractor and the wiring harness is not too complicated. The service and owners manuals can be found in the technical reference sub-forum. There is a wealth of knowledge about all things Cub Cadet here that you just cannot find anywhere else, from the 1961-vintage IH made Original Model through the current MTD made machines. Again, welcome to Only Cub Cadets. |
Parts availability is not an issue. OEM, aftermarket, used. I've never had a Cub project stall because I couldn't find parts.

Welcome, I purchased (stole) a # 1250 this pst Summer & has become my main mower for my yard & really like it. By doing a bit of looking one does not have to be afraid in getting any part one needs, anything is availabe. Even complete wiring harnes & if your a little handy you can do it yoursef for a fraction of the cost.
Just remember to take a lot of pictures if you start working on it so you can always look back & see whats what.:bigthink: Nik, |
Welcome to OCC
Questions about the 1250 will be better answered if you post in the IH Cub Cadet Tractors (GT) area. More guys view that area. |
