Cheap Chinese junk...
 

I was trying to grease the steering on the 147 today and the coupling came off on the hose (on my grease gun). I bought this flexible rubber hose for functionality about a year ago. While I was trying to use it today it bubbled up on the end and the rubber came right out of the crimped metal coupling. :bash: Got the job done by putting the solid steel tube back on until I find a better rubber hose.

You get what you pay for. Grease guns work at high pressure, it's not a place to skimp.

I sure don't mean to preach, but one of these days we're all going to get sick of all this cheap crap from china, and walmart and harbor freight, et al are going to be seriously hurting. I hope that day comes sooner rather than later.

What do you recommend to replace it with? At 10 bucks and bought at O'Reilly's I thought I was doing ok....

I hate to say it but it is getting harder to find things made here. I buy good quality tools at the local flea markets that are so much better quality, made here and cheaper. Ok, so they are 40/50 years old, but they do the job better.

Try and buy a TV made here.

Get something with an actual burst pressure rating.

I prefer a "swivel grease gun coupler" versus a floppy hose.
I can set the end at a guessed position and then direct the business end onto the fitting while one hand is on the gun and one is on the lever.

I too have looked for a good USA made grease gun but came up empty handed.:angry:

Snap-On makes a grease gun...... I don't think they have anything made outside of the USA. I have one. It's old, but still works. I don't know what the others are I have, but it is hard to find a good grease gun.

I'm with you, bluesman. Much better to buy a quality tool once than to buy cheap stuff and toss it every couple years.

Any wonder this lament is coming from a bunch of guys buying 40 year old American made tractors?

Not everybody appreciates a well made, balanced and reliable tool.
