QA42 Gear Box Help!!

Hey all, I was blowing the driveway this evening and all of a sudden the blower quit. The 90% gear box on the blower is slipping/grinding. Is this repairable and are parts available? I'm guessing new gears etc.
Need help bad here in Northern Michigan. Another storm is passing through.

Bearings are available ( reasonable price ) and so are the angle cut gears ( much more expensive  )

Do the shafts wobble? If so, you might be lucky and get away with just bearings. If it is truly grinding, it's probably past the cheap point.

Do you have a cub cadet rear mount roto tiller? That has a 90* gear box on it too.

They are a different ratio, in order to use a tiller box,you have to use a different drive sprocket on the blower, BTDT

Well it looks like it's going to be both gears and at this point the bearings might as well be replaced as well. Might be cheaper to find a complete gear box? :bigthink:

That's what I would do. You could find another thrower for less then what that would cost to repair.

I agree with Muzzy, either a complete blower or a gear box.

I rebuilt mine a few years ago and found a good deal on the small gear and still spent $45 for that. Plus another $25 or so for the bearings.
