Snow thrower belt tension
On the qa36a, does it make sense to tighten the 4 carriage bolts down tight after you've got the belt tensioned tight, that way it prevents it from loosening up at all??

I always have
|
the qa 36a .You do not have to loosen the bolts.
On a qa 42 you do not have to loosen the bolts. Read up on the manual. |
There r actually bushings around each bolt, this is suppose to make it so tension can be set on the belt and and u cannot immobilize the plate. Just looked like my plate was moving during operation. But hey, it's in the manual

I have been using mine for the last 4 yrs without any big problems, besides loosing a belt occasionally. But this yr, it just would work without throwing belts. A few yrs ago, I drilled a hole next to the tensioner handle, put a .25" bolt in, so it can't loosen up. I put a new shiv on, .5x3". It works great now
