Evolution?

Well, to some it might be a step backwards.

Just received my new 784 this morning. Not quite daylight enough to play with it yet, so thought I would get the party rolling and post some pictures.

This is my latest, also owning a 1450 (dual hydro) and a 1650. I thought I wanted dual hydraulics, and since I needed to whittle down the herd to a single tractor, this was one I found that might be my long term keeper. Although I got a fair price on it, my schedule blew up so I wasnt able to make the drive to pick it up and had to pay some $$ for shipping so have a little more in it than I would like. But oh well, water under the bridge at this point.

First impressions: Its a LOT less vibration than the 1650. (Although I kinda like the feeling of that 1650 monster...). In the pics it covered in road salt from being hauled, but the paint looks mostly original and in half decent shape.

Has some kind of mount on the back, and a pipe fitting elbow for the rear end fill (which leads me to think they actually changed the hydro fluid, but first will be to just change fluid/filter - no idea what they used).

Starts right up but its 13 out now so slow turning without a jumper. Believe a new battery is in order.

The engine, and the rear end seem pretty dirty/greasy. Sometimes this is good because it is a layer of protection. Just depends on where the grime is coming from (gaskets and such I can take care of).

On the side panels are three holes on each side. Any idea what they are for?

Its a 784, but its yellow. At first I thought a red one would be better.... but given its Cub Cadet, the yellow suits me just fine and it will stay yellow/white. Am interested to see how it cleans up, it may be in decent enough shape that no paint is even needed.

For now I will put the QA42 on the 1650 and throw with it, and use this one with the blade. Will have to decide which will get the Ags and which will get the turfs/chains. The 1450 and plow will go up for sale.

Congrats on the 784! Can't beat dual hydraulics!
Maybe someone had lights or reflectors screwed to the side panels.:bigthink:

Nice find and even has the CI rear in it. I would pull that rear hitch and get you a Cyclops rear frame cover, $30 well spent. Like you said it looks like it's in great shape and I would keep it yellow and white too. Congrats!:beerchug: I bet ya those QL's will be sitting more and more now that you have an 82 series.

Ya, me too. Sooooo, 16 degrees out at the moment and out came the garden hose and pressure washer. I did this while the rest of the house was away so they wouldnt look at me and make those little loopy signs with their fingers up side the head. Just made sure the water was drained before I put them back away (dont worry, in a heated storage space)

Now salt free. :biggrin2: A little grime came off as well. The paint is not as original as I had hoped, so will be up for a repaint (if original would have just waxed the patina).

The rest of winter will tell which I pull out the most often, which will determine which I turn into my summer rebuild project.

I do have a QA42A on the QL - I think there are mods for it to fit the 782, but is there another model blower that bolts on (perhaps a two stage)?
