No flames please

Didn't kno where else to post this but I'm interested in getting some diversity in the herd and found this decent 1960 wheel horse 400 suburban. Fairly collectible I think but useless as tits on a boar hog lol unlike my cubs. I know the collective here has a general knowledge of the market. What would be a fair offer?

Second photo-missing a couple of key shields, broken cables incorrect gauge wheels etc hood looks nice but in large photos the previous resto is lacking and would have to be revisited-engine tranny sound condition

Can't tell from the photos. Is that a real mower or a toy? It looks like a real mower, but I am not for sure. Interesting....

Cub-N-It is a member and also a Wheel Horse guy, I suggest that you contact him. :beerchug:

Wow, that is a nifty looking little deal. I have no idea of it's value but I wouldn't mind having it stored someplace accessible yet out of the way.
400... I'm guessing 4hp Kohler? With all the technology we have in the world today isn't it funny that in 1960 4 hp was enough to ride around on and get the grass cut, yet today 4 hp is barely enough to power a push mower, what the heck happened? |
It'a affectionately known as the "ball burner" in wheel horse circles lol wonder why? Haha
|
That's a neat little Wheel Horse! I've also heard them referred to as nut roasters! :biggrin2:
|
That's very cool. I've been thinking the same thing as a couple Bantams and Panzers have crossed my path lately. I like it
|
I had a nut roaster!!! Was a cool little tractor. The 4hp kohler was more than enough to tool around on but for cutting grass on a slight hill it was a stretch. If you pick it up...be very careful with the clutch....you'll end up on your back real quick.

I have a friend and his brother that would probably give there right roasted nut for it. But I really don't know what they are worth.
Go to the Red Square forum those Wheel horse folks would be all over that. Regards, Chris |
