Loaded Tires
 

Looking ahead to spring I was wondering if running my loaded tires for mowing grass will be an issue. I'm running 80lbs, tire, rim and fluid on my 2082 with turf tires. Any issues running that weight for the summer months? Do I need to at least pull my wheel weights off? Another 75lbs a wheel. Thanks

Just my :TwoCents: but I'd at least take the weights off the wheels. The more weight you run, the more ground compaction that comes with it. Maybe keep any eye out for an extra set of tires for it so you have a weighted set for winter and a non-filled set for summer. If that's not an option, just take what weight off you can and you should be good to :beerchug:

One thing that may come in to play, do you mow a lot of hilly land where the extra weight/traction would give you a benefit on?

I have hills to mow so I loaded my 1864 rear tires just for that purpose. I agree with jimbob, you may want to lose the weights. My ground is pretty hard in the summer, so I think the more weight the better!

I run loaded AG's on both of my Supers for grass cutting work. The unloaded turfs did more damage because they tended to spin. Each of my tires have about 65LBS of RV antifreeze in them.

I run my 149 and 169 all year long with my setup.
Loaded tires and 90 lbs. of weights on each side.
I do have a lot of hills and the ground is hard here.

I do have a couple of small but steep hills that I have to deal with, but regardless, for tractors that are used for mowing in summer and pushing snow in the winter I probably wouldn't change tires back and forth in anyway.

My tiller tractors are used for only tilling, and I prefer that those tires not be weighted or loaded.

Well, many times I have found that if I were to wait for the lawn to dry out from all of the rain, I just may as well wait for hel1 to freeze over. Which brings me to my point, I run my off topic lawn tractor with no weights because I don't have any incline issues aside from the ditch grade. I know a weighted tractor-mower would leave deeper tire impressions in a damp yard.
