Best tires for tilling 1450
I am looking for tires for my 1450 that will be set up for tilling. I am thinking ag tires in back with tri-ribs up front. Am I thinking right or is here a better way to go?
Any suggestions for brand and vendor are appreciated. This is the first time I bought tires for a CC. The 1450 has original rear tires size 23x10.5x12. My 1000 has turf tires I've 23x8.5x12. Are the rims different widths on these two tractors? |
The ags and tri ribs would be great for tilling.

Any suggestions on brand and retailer?

What kind of tilling? Rear mounted roto tilling? I've got the wide 4 ply carslile tires on the front and regular IH turfs on the back with my tiller and it works fine. For plowing I'd probably want AGS. If I was going on look, I think tri ribs if narrow wheels (but 4 ply for wide wheels) and ags look great together.

I have not yet been able to plow or till with my cub, but I have BKT ags on the back, I like the look over the firestones (lug spaceing) and the price was a better fit at the time.

Rear mounted roto tilling. I am looking for a plow.
Can you post the part number for the BKT tires? |
This is where I get my Tru-Powers from.
http://stopandgotires.com/modelsize....uctCode=523367 They are the cheapest place I found. I have a set of the Firestones but they are expen$ive and only made for Miller tire. |
Tilling and plowing are each on opposite ends of the spectrum.
For tilling, I don't know that the tire makes all that much difference, I'm not there now and I don't remember for sure, but I think two of my tiller tractors have ags and the other one has turfs. With the weight of the tiller and it pushing forward on the tractor the whole time, I've never had any kind of traction issues with any of them (not saying that I couldn't have, just never had any issues yet). I do know that I like the widest tire I can get on the back of the tiller tractors. Pulling a plow is a whole different story, pulling traction is and always will be THE big issue with our Cubs. |
Tilling-widest turf tires I own.
Plowing I like narrow front ags tires and 23-8.50-12 ag tires. Tires wider than 8.50 don't fit in the furrow very well. I prefer a a 2 ply tire over a 4 or 6 ply tire. |
