Blast cabinet dust collector
I have been using a shop vac as a dust collector on my blast cabinet. It works fairly well but after a while the filter gets plugged and it loses suction. I was looking at different styles of homemade dust collectors online and I decided to make a cheap cyclone style. I used a 5 gal bucket and a few pvc fittings. The inlet from the cabinet enters at an angle to direct the dust against the wall of the bucket where it swirls around and drops out of the air. It seems to work good considering it took about 10 minutes and $11 to build.

Very interesting!! :High5:
My tractor has an air filter that works the same way. http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...258800x519.jpg Consider setting a 3 gallon bucket inside your blue bucket, making the air swirl a little further, that is what this tractor has. :bigthink: |

Wonder about taking the entire air cleaner assembly off a piece of ag or industrial equipment. Get one of the vertical styles that has the large dust collector bowl on the bottom. The air filter already has the fins on it.

That's a great idea. I have the same blast cabinet, and use a shop vac hooked up directly. Will have to try this cyclone idea. Thanks for sharing. Come to think of it, I have the exact same thing (30gal trash can) between my woodworking planer and the shop's dust collector.
