Worth of a 1050
I was at the boneyard today and found a 1050.
The Good: Good frame, perfect hood and grill, good rear tires. trans was tight with no weird sounds when turning wheels, tractor has not been completely stripped yet. The Bad: seat and mounting bracket missing, rear fenders and steering wheel trashed by boneyard crew. carb, breather and starter missing, deck and mule drive are missing. Hiding it from my wife :bash2: I'm thinking about offering them $50 and see where it goes. I really don't need it but I do have a couple of 16hp twin engines sitting around and thought it might make a fun toy. Any opinions on these tractors and especially how tough are the transmissions? |

Hi, if you have a good running 10hp they are alright. I have one. The trans has a bad rap for stripping 1&2 gears. Has a good rear carrier and axels that the pullers use. Best bet is to put in an old cast trans. I bought mine with a botched clutch install and stripped gears. I put in a cast trans and reworked the clutch and now have a good mower. Mike

I saw that too. I got the front rims off of it. They had good bearings. that was the only 1050 I have ever seen.I had to come home and research it. Looks like it was only made in 1989.

Well dang it I had decided not to buy the whole thing but was going to buy the wheels. I guess I can still buy the rears, lol. I'm going this week to see if it still has the safety switch for the seat.
