127 Qa42
Hi all I'm new here. I just picked up a 127 last summer, it reminded me of my Dads little tractor when I was a kid.
Last week I was talking to a guy about a snowblower attachment, he told me he had a 36". It wound up being a QA42, he didn't know much about it. It spins freely and doesn't seem to have slop in it. From what I know I am missing the drive pulley and chute rod. I have seen speed up pulleys, for about $30 and NOS for $60 or so. I am wondering if anyone can tell me the dimensions of a stock pulley so I can match it up without ordering one online. Oh I wound up getting the blower and a garden plow for $50, in my area on Crasiglist I have seen a few postings for blowers missing parts for $200 and complete for $300. |

The pulley is 4-1/2" dia, with a 1/2" groove.
A 42" thrower is working a 12 hp motor. I have a 42" on my 782 with a 18 Hp twin and it does well, but with 12 hp you will just have to go a bit slower. The pulley is avail from our sponsors as well as aftermarker. Browning makes a 4-1/4".that is real close. I'm sure others will chime in here also. Do not use a aluminum or die cast pulley, use only steel/cast iron. The soft pulleys are short lived and like to break, throwing pieces sometimes. Check the right angle gearbox for condition of the gears. usually it is the big one that looses teeth They are no longer available from cubcadet, only used, and I have not found anyone making an aftermarket replacement. |
Thanks George.
Hopefully the 12 hp will push it. I saw a video on you tube with the same setup and the guy was throwing snow with ease it seemed. I am hoping to find a tiller for it before spring so I can get my garden ready... I bought my first house last April and all I had was a pick axe to loosen up the ground, needless to say my garden was only a 1/4 of the size I wanted. |
