Electric PTO wiring question

Hello everybody...my PTO on my 1641 decided to give up the ghost, so I ordered a Stens replacement. Problem is, apparently it's been changed before, and there is no connector on the cub. I know which is hot, but the replacement PTO has a connector. Does anyone know how I can figure out which wire on the PTO connector should get the hot + wire?...or does it matter?

Thanks!

Sam Mac...I wanted to close this out and say thanks for the quick response. Got the new pto on and connected the wires. It's working perfectly.

Thank!

It's one of the joys of DC vs AC. Remember the old "Let's make a magnet out of a nail, a piece of wire and a battery" comment by your 7th grade science teacher? It didn't matter which end of the battery you connected to the wire around the nail it still made a magnet. And our PTO's are just magnets. There are also one wire PTO's where the one lead is hot because the PTO is grounded thus being the other terminal of the battery.:beerchug:
