1512 running hot
 

My 1512 has been running pretty warm since i have been using it this summer so i decided to flush out the radiator and i am not getting much flow out of it.
I took it out and brought it up to the local radiator guy and he says it is pretty bad and that he might not be able to recover it. He says he might have to recore it.
Has anyone been able to find new ones or had one made?
If I was gonna have one custom made i would like to add a transmission cooler in it like an automotive radiator.

Adding a transmission cooler is a great idea, but I'd personally put it somewhere else and not in the radiator tank. You'll be introducing more heat load on the engine cooling system than it was designed for.

Got the radiator redone today. I sure wish somebody would start making these again. Cause $250 to recore it is terrible!
I also used some radiator flush in the motor today while i was waiting for it to get done and it was only moving about a pint a minute when the thermostat should have been wide open.
As soon as the flush hit the motor it opened up and was flowing very well.
I am going to put a new thermostat in it as soon as it shows up.
I went and mowed with it and it made it about an hour when the water pump locked up and started smokin the belt. So i will also be putting in a new one of those too.
All in all. I shouldnt have any cooling problems for a long time but it sure sucks to be forced to spend a bunch of money on it right now.

Ouch! Sounds like you'll pretty much have a new cooling system when you're done. Shoot, I'll take that tractor off your hands so you won't have to fix anything else. :biggrin2:

All kidding aside, the parts of these smokers can be pricey.

I was having some cooling issues with my 1572, and I replaced the thermostat and it fixed all the overheating. I bought all the parts through a kubota engine dealer in Omaha, NE. I just gave them the cub part number with the KB taken off the beginning of the number. It saved me almost have of the price from Cub.

Got the nee water pump and thermostat in today to the tune of $128.00 from my local kubota parts house and it has a hard time getting off of the cold end of the "normal" zone.
Even after an hour and a half mowing at my house in 85*F temps and the radiator screen completely plugged with dandilion seeds it still has no problems.
I am going to throw the side shields back on and see how it does this weekend mowing some more.
