Lights on 982 dash
 

First off I'm sure this has been discussed but I can't find any threads on it

I'm trying to figure out what the two indicator lights ( I'm assuming they are lights since I remember they had red covers on them when I was younger) on the top surface of the dash are for. I can't see anything about them in the manual or on any parts diagrams.

I would like to make them functional again but it's been so long I don't even remember if they ever worked.

982 didn't have lights on the dash..... how about a pic of them. :bigthink:

I'm having my wife take pictures and I'll post them on here in a few minutes. I'm thinking they were for something to do with the PTO maybe??? The tractor came with a 3 point and rear PTO but was removed before my Dad bought it in 1991. Maybe they were to indicate it was on?? Just a guess.

The reflector on the right side one is missing so it looks black, and If I recall they both had red covers on them.

I think somebody installed the lights on your tractor. Mine never had them.

Those aren't original to the 982. Someone added them at one point.

I'll just echo everyone. They aren't factory.

A light needs power and a ground. Get out the test light and multi-meter and make them work.

If it was my tractor, they'd be coming off.

That would make sense to me. Whoever did them did a great job though, they really look "right". Since I have them I'll have to track the wires and see where they take me.

Can anybody give me a date of birth for this old girl?

If I remove them I'll have two holes in my dash............not that it's in good shape. The white you see under the hood trim is some plastic putty I used to keep the dash from wearing out more than it is, it was actually worn though in a couple spots.
