Be careful when checking for spark
|
I am guessing there is more to the story that is not being told.

I'm sure more will come out as the look into it further. I suspect allot of starting fluid and spilled gas , a meth lab or home made bombs.

A guy I used to work with burned down his garage (and himself pretty badly) by using a pan of gasoline to clean some turbo oil lines and blowing them out with compressed air. The compressor kicked on and ignited the fuel rich atmosphere. He was in recovery for about 6 weeks. Like many households he only had an extinguisher in the kitchen and couldn't get to it in time to do much with it. I went out the night he told me that story and bought $250 of extinguishers. I have them all over the house/shop now.
Shockingly he still uses gas to clean parts... |
So I guess I should stop cleaning parts with gasoline next to my natural gas water heater...at least my fire extinguisher is in the garage.

The stuff I use comes from this place (its literally right up the road from me) http://www.janitorsuppliesfortwayne.com/ It's like $30 for 5 gallons and you cut it with water. 5 gal is more than plenty to fill a 20 gal parts bath tank. Summit Racing and other places all sell similar stuff that works great. For nasty stuff I usually just put it in the parts bath over night or for a few days and let it do the work for me. If you're in a hurry you can scrub it with brushes just like you would with gas. When you're bath mix is too gross to continue on you just pour it down the drain. |

Touch your burn pile off with it or mix it at 20% with used oil and take it in to anywhere that takes used oil.
