Backyard Landscaping Project
 

Here is a before and after pic of the backyard project that took a couple years to get done. I wanted a putting green in the backyard and the spousal unit wanted a water feature. We came up with this 'compromise', although I got to do the heavy labor.....:bigthink: Putting green in the fall and water feature next summer.

Ended up with a 15 x 24 putting green and about a 35' pondless stream running along the one side of it. To get the warranty on the putting green turf I had someone install it.

After getting prices for the stream and not being very happy with what they proposed, I ended up designing, digging, plumbing and placing every last stinkin' little pebble for the stream. I certainly didn't need any health club membership during that phase. I kinda lost count but, not counting boulder weight, there is around 9 ton of stone there....all moved into place by hand or shovel. The bigger boulders were moved with the neighbors 955 loader.

I know it is a little anti-tractor to have fake grass in my backyard. :bigeyes: But please understand maintaining real grass at putting green height would be more lawncare than I want to do! I made sure to make all the curves around the stonework gradual enough that the cub can handle the turns without backing up. It has survived a few winters with no ill effects. The downside is my golf game hasn't improved much at all. :bash2:

ya...resizing the pics to upload makes it hard to see very well.....

Here are a few more that are a little closer....

First is the waterfall at the top, next is looking upstream to the waterfall, then across the stream to the green, last is looking downstream to where the water drops into the underground reservoir.

Nice work. Looking for pictures of Cub hauling the stones.

The little 2155 cub didn't haul anything on this project, the volume & weight was a little too much for it - after all it is an LT not a GT!

Here is a pic of the Chevy / Bri-Mar combo that did the hauling....dirt away from digging the reservoir & stream bed and loads of stone a ton at a time from the supplier. Fortunately I was able to back up the trailer right to where I wanted - either my make shift wash plant to get the dust off the stone or right to where I needed to shovel it in place. I was very conscious about handling the stone as few times as possible.

That is the FIL having a turn on the backhoe that I rented for the day. A very good investment to keep from hand digging that pit on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year.

Yes! Hydraulic power is a wonderful thing. Your landscaping project turned out great. Very professional looking.
