I just made an offer on this 1641
 

waiting to hear back..hopefully it isn't fubar..and I'm not overpaying
been sitting where it is for a year, guy received it in partial payment for something or other..and never attempted to start it in any way
didn't turn the motor by hand (or attempt to) because we found 4 snakes laying on it as it was..no way I was reaching down to try and turn it and risk finding more
it's got a 44'' deck and wheel weights..i found from the serial number that it was built in 92, first year for this model

what would you say it's worth as it sits..knowing only what is listed here (which is all I know right now)

With that many hours, the tractor could use some work. Good plastic should be worth $1-300 to put on another tractor if it really is good.

I have no idea how long a 16 Vanguard will run. I have 4-5 and they still run well at 7-800 hours unless there are extenuating circumstances.

To me, that would be a $150 tractor since you don't say anything about how it runs or condition.

hood/side panels/grill, all in good shape..sickens me that they are plastic
if I get it..i'd like to fix it and possibly sell it to get more stuff for my IH cubs

Good luck! Hope you get to save it, or get some good parts out of it. If it was me, I would want to give less than $200 for it. Probably start at $100 and go up. Just me.

I'll be in Carlisle Pa, the end of August. If you're close, I'll take all the good plastic you want to get rid of if the price is right.

When I got my first Cyclops when they were probably ten years old, I noticed many of them had broken plastic except for my first one. Twenty years later, the plastic on my first cylclops is still in good shape like when I bought it.

Just looking at the numerous Cyclops tractors I have bought in the interim, I formally thought this was just a bad design. But it appears to me the biggest problem with the plastic is the owners ramming their tractors into immovable objects or otherwise ham fisting the panels off/on. I no longer believe the former to be the case.

I have patched the panels on many of these tractors that I have bought where the plastic looked destroyed. Since the repairs they have incurred no further degradation or damage.

The 1641's have a few shortcomings compared to their much higher priced brothers like the 1864 but that is a comparison between the best Cub ever built vs. a very good one.

PS. If it was a usable 48" deck I would go more but a 42" isn't too salable.

j-mech ty sir, I was thinking in the same ballpark $ wise, I'm concerned about the motor..if it is no good..the tractor is just parts
and no parts I can use for anything I've got

if I get it..and the motor IS NOT any good..i'll let you know bc at that point I would be looking to part it out

BTW; in that condition, I'd offer anywhere from 100 to 200. Not verifiable running is a biiiiggg deal, so take that for what it's wroth.

he accepted my offer..now I just gotta find time to get down and get it..and figure out how I'm gonna get it in the truck by myself...
plan is to steal the wheel weights off it to put on one of my 147's and either fix then sell it..or part it out if the motor turns out to be no good
