71 creeper question

Does the creeper gear reduce the speed of the rear PTO?

Yosemite Sam 07-31-2014 09:32 PM

Only when the lever is pulled back.

J-Mech 07-31-2014 09:32 PM

Yes
When it is in "low range"

SLOW. Like it will drop it to 135RPM (Creeper is a 4X reduction) If your going to build a tiller, the 540 RPM of the rear PTO is fine. That's the speed at which all "bigger" tractors PTO turns.

Won't the CC pto turn the tiller backwards?

If he uses a boughten one it would..... if he is making one, then he can build it however it needs.

Ya, but if he's going to this much trouble, he can flip the gearbox to the otherside to reverse rotation.
