Guys

This thread is now back open. I made a call to someone that knows Earl. His request is legit. I want to publicly apologize for my actions and comments. You'll notice that all of the comments have been removed. I would suggest that if you chose to try to help Earl that you PM him.

I have not been on the computer as often as I used to be, but I did read the thread and posts just before you cleaned it up. I hope EarlJ is back on this site. I don't know what all went down, but the old saying "Walk a mile in my shoes..." comes to mind. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to improve the site with a new feature. Maybe there should be a section added to the Trading Post section of the forum where items may be sold and money from the sale of those items would go toward helping a fellow member or banked (overseen by a treasurer) and then a portion of the money could be sent to members who are undergoing difficult times in their lives. For instance, if a member experiences a death in their immediate family, then a sympathy card from this site (or flowers....whatever) might be sent to them. Well, just another crazy idea that crossed my mind.....that's all. I mention the addition to the forum only as a means of helping others out---some of us might be short on cash, but have some spare parts that we could sell to help out others in lieu of cash on hand.

Nice thought but I can see it causing more trouble that it's worth. Don't think a tractor forum is the proper place for something like this, just my 2 cents.

Not that it's needed from me but I agree.

Nice job Sam, making the effort to call and verify and reopening the thread. I'm sure that your first impulse was shared by many, especially these days. You did good.

Push come to shove Sam I don't think a tractor forum is a good place for firearm discussions.

Uhh...what? There's a bit of a difference between having a single thread for discussing Firearms, Hunting, etc (hence the forum name "General Talk"), and having an entire part of the site as well as people, man hours, and who knows what else dedicated to organizing, dooling out, funding etc money from people to people. I like Cub Cadet 123's suggestion, but I think the logistics of it would be too consuming. Now I'm done derailing this thread any further by bringing up and discussing irrelevant things :beatdeadhorse:

Back on topic, kudos to you Sam for stepping up and making the right call. However, like tservice, the link/campaign is dead. Let's hope we see EarlJ back on the site :beerchug:

Thank you Sam Mac, I don't know who you called as I know quite a few people. I only posted here because I felt like there were some good guys here that understand brotherhood, and willingness to help a man when he's down. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for stopping up and verifying that I was indeed being truthful with you guys. Life is a struggle for me and my family to the point that I may have to sell my tractors to help fund what needs to be done. Perhaps this was not the correct place to ask for help, but I did only because we all share a common interest. Thanks again sir, you are an honorable gentleman.

Glad to see you back on the forum EarlJ. I don't know if you are a mason or not, but they help a distressed brother in need. Well, chances are that if you are, then you already knew that. Wishing you the best.
