50C mower...Crack repair needed
 

Hello, I purchased this deck last spring from a guy who bought a super with this deck on it. The super had less than a 100 hours on it. This deck had an easy life until I bought it.

Anyway, the right side 6" wheel mount has cracked where it is welded to the deck. I was told by the guy I bought it from that this is common with this mower and it was his selling point on how good of shape this deck was in.

I'm planning on welding up the crack on the outside and welding a piece of plate to the underside to help spread out the forces from the flexing that caused the crack in the first place.

Any suggestions of what others have done are appreciated.

Pretty much what you said is how most people repair the guage wheel hangers. The only other thing I do is drill a couple holes in the plate around the area where the crack is and plug weld the holes. Should be good to go then.:beerchug:
