Anti Rattle Springs

I have a problem with the anti rattle springs on my 582 breaking. These are the double hooked springs that clip over the clutch plate and secure it to the rear drive disc. They are breaking just above the hook. I am buying them at the local CC dealer at $2.50 a piece. I just replaced two missing ones last week and I noticed after mowing yesterday another one was broken. I found it on top of the mower deck under the top cover. Is there something else more reliable I could use instead of these springs? :bash2:

I don't use them.

Take them off and throw them over your shoulder, problem solved.

There are likely very few people that have success with these springs. I view them as a great engineering idea that simply does not work.

Strange thing, maybe not. I have never had a single issue with the PTO anti-rattle springs in my 129. I installed them after rebuilding the PTO about 5 years ago. (They came with the kit after all.)

I never had any trouble with the PTO clips either but I believe he is refering to the actual drive shaft clutch springs for a manual clutch located behind the engine.

The OP is not talking about PTO ani-rattle springs.......

He is referring to the ant-rattle springs on the drivetrain clutch rattle springs. They are on the clutch/3-pin driver. Little annoying rattling things.

I never liked them, annoying little almost useless things. I think that 1050 you have only has one in there, although it may have both; it's been a while.

I think there are couple in there rattling around. They're annoying.
