Your first Cub...
Growing up I lived in upstate NY with my aunt and uncle we had a 128 that I used to mow our 5 acres of grass with. During the winter of 93 my uncle and me tore down the 128 and rebuilt it. I was up visiting family and came across a picture taken of it right after we got done. That tractor was my "ride", I took it everywhere. The cub is long gone, I grew up and my uncle passed away but just seeing that picture made me feel like I was 12 again. The picture came home with me. I will find a 128 to restore with my son in memory of my Uncle Duane Stiles.

What he said!
I'm taking your title to mean you are asking about our first cubs. The first one I ever rode on was a 107. My dad and I. Attachment 56167 First one I ever drove was a 782 that was purchased to replace the 107. I don't have any pics of me driving it, although, they do exist. Just not "within reach" of the moment. First one I ever owned was a 127. I'm not sure if I have any pics of that machine or not. If I do, they are lost in the archives with my ex-wife. |
I don't have a really cool story dating back a few generations like many of you, but I got my first cub a little over 2 years ago because I knew they were cool and would last. It was a 1964 100. My wife and I probably will not have kids, so my cubs will only be for me. Things might change, you never know. But for now, that's how it is.

Our first cub cadet was one my folks brought home, a model 76. I mowed lots of lawn with that little bugger. First one I bought was a cub cadet 1330 LT brand new in 1992.
Then it was an in and out thing up until 2010, now it has became an addiction.:biggrin2: |
I have 2 firsts, there's the 72 that really holds that spot, also being the first one I was lucky enough to own, then there's my grandfather's 149, that my uncle owns at the moment. there's pics of me riding around on both of them as a toddler, but I don't have any with the 149 on me. will have to do some searching next time I visit the parents. Not sure which I got to ride first, since I spent a lot of time with my grandparents growing up, they were a better deal than day care! :biggrin2:

There's my first cub, dad's 125 in my avatar, and there I am at age 2?-3? on the seat. I'm bigger, but dad still has the 125, and sometimes I still drive it. It was the first CC I drove, mowed and tilled with. Learned how to back a trailer/implement with too.

First Cub for me was my uncles O back around 1962. I had Cubs ever since. Picked up an O a while back and just gave it a little TLC just for the nostalgia value. :beerchug:

I don't recall any in the family but I've always liked tractors. Raised on a small farm and always around them, I enjoyed the things you could do with them. Plus, you could actually drive them without a drivers license.
Anyway, this interest in tractors was further bolstered when I saw that 149 sitting in that yard with the for sale sign. It was about 25 years ago and that little tractor just reminded me of a large one reduced in size. It was so awesome and strong looking, sitting there with the deck under it and the super cool hydraulic lift and lights! That was my first and just like my first girl friend when I was 15, I still have them both. Apparently I like keeping good things. |
My first cub was a 1962 Original, the rest is history...lol.
