Snow Bade/plow questions for 1810
 

I have been on the hunt for a snow blade to fit my 1810 for bout 6 months and today someone contacted me on CL with two of them for sale. Wanted 100 each and sent me pics. She warned the white and yellow one had been modified to be used with a winch and was well used but the all yellow one was found in her grandfathers barn when he passed and looked like it was never used. My question is did CC ever make an all yellow plow? I have seen the yellow subframe and white plow but never an all yellow setup. Take a look at these for me and let me know what you guys think.

I've got one that is yellow with a white sub frame, so I would say they did. I thought mine was a repaint, but the yellow on your blade is almost identical.

They made all yellow ones for the Cyclops series. They did not ever mix match paint though. Someone has swapped sub-frames on the yellow/white one.

Either will work on your 1810.

so the all yellow one is a cyclops plow probably? I was getting similar info from my internet search. Your sure it will still fit my 1810? It looks to be the better of the two as far as condition.

In my opinion, a blade only loses to a snow blower in a couple situations. First, deeeeep (talking over the blade deep) snow. A blade will do it, but it'll take longer. Second, if you have a large area to clean. Again, a blade will do it, but it'll take longer. However, wet heavy snow is best handled by a blade. A blower will do it, but you have to go slower. It all comes down to this for me: the blade, in my opinion, is a lot more foolproof than a blower. Less moving parts, less to wear, less to go wrong. It can get in and out of tighter spaces, as well. Ideally, if I had my way (like I did last winter), I'd have a blade on one machine, and a blower on a another. I only HAD to break out the blower I think twice last winter, but when I did, I was glad I had it. BUT I also went through several belts and a gear box. Guess you call that "working out the kinks" :biggrin2: I did switch it between 2 tractors a couple times so I had to "settle it in" each time. But by the end of winter, it was working great. My biggest complaint was wind! There was one spot in particular I had to do that was like a wind tunnel, and for some reason, no matter which was I blew it, it always came back on me at one point or another. After just an hour of blowing snow at work, I'd be soaked to the bone and froze. Ok, that's enough :BlahBlah: from me.

Lol thanks for that. We don't typically get winters like that here any longer but last year was bad. We bought our house just before winter last year and have two very large driveways, sidewalks, and a back patio that pretty much was a sheet of ice most all winter. It ruined my concrete too. I have since bought a Kubota BX with rear blade for the big areas but want the cub to clear the sidewalks and back patio. I for one love a bad winter and look forward to the chance to play, er um work, outside in it. I already called them back and said I was interested in the yellow one and asked if they had the connecting rod laying around somewhere that goes with it. Hope to pick up soon.

Someone just told me on facebook this is for the cyclops series of mowers and that, while it will fit, it will hang lower up front possibly causing clearance issues due to the larger front axle on the newer mowers. Can anyone confirm this or have additional input before I go buy?

Hard to tell in the pics but they look like they are for the taller supersteer tractors to me. If the blade is ok I'd probably grab it and wait for another WF plow that the subframe can be salvaged from. If you were closer I'd trade you straight up for one of mine.
