How quiet is quiet?

as a new owner of a quiet line tractor (1450) and someone who has been around pepper pot and slightly larger muffled tractors my whole life (gravely - kubota), how quiet is the line? i understand engine/drivetran noise, but im talking about exhaust and the side shields. my 1450 has all guards, and a complete muffler, it just dosnt run yet. im dying to know how loud it is compared to another tractor:bigthink::biggrin2:

In my opinion there can be a noticeable difference as Lon as all components are tight and in good shape. At idle and wot my 1450 I would say is a bit quieter then my sons 127 but the vibrations of mid throttle its quite a bit louder. My 1000 has no vibration noises and is much quieter

I feel the Queitline was designed to help keep the neighborhood quiet, :bigthink:
NOT protect the operator,,,,,

The dB noise at a distance was lower, you did not disturb the neighbors as much.

As far as the operator, if you want to have good hearing when you are 70,
use hearing protection whether you are on a QL or behind a pepperpot silenced Gravely,,

And here I sit, spent alot of money on hearing aids never realizing that all I needed was ear plugs to hear little things working. :bigthink:

My 1250 is half as loud as my 149. I can have a have a normal conversation when sitting in the seat at wot. My 127 is the loudest tractor I have and it has the new muffler on it. Thats what i get for buying an aftermarket muffler.

Its just my opinion so take it for what its worth. I have had a couple quiet lines (ok 4 fo them), and a 149, a couple 82 series. It is my experience that the quiet line is.... not so quiet.

They are all about the same (maybe the 82 series is the most quiet, but I wouldnt classify any of them as 'quiet').

My 1250 seemed just as loud as my son's 129. After I finally replaced the top of the muffler box that was missing it seems a lot quieter from the seat.
