Optima Battery
 

Anyone have experience with Optima batteries. I'm going to replace battery in my Alfa soon. In this car the battery is mounted in the trunk and leaky batteries over the years have rotted a hole in the spare tire well. I'm going to fix the damage to the tire well and hopefully find a battery that dosen't leak.

Any thoughts on the battery?

YES YES YES! OPTIMA! its a little spendy, like $200 or somthin, but the cranking power, and the non, leak, spirocell 6-pack is sweet!

I have had 2 Optima batteries in my boat, and both went bad! I thought that the first one was just my bad luck. Sears checked it and found it was bad, then exchanged it for a new one. It went bad too! They gave me my money back and I turned around and bought a Diehard for half the cost of the Optima. It's been in there for 3 years now and still going strong.

I've heard the new red top's aren't as good as the old one. The yellow top are still holding up though.

You can also use a Miata battery...

Is the Miata battery a dry cell?

I have an Optima in my truck and I've been happy with it. Since 04.

I believe it is...but it still has vent tubes that go out the bottom...

I had a six pack in my coupe , it was always dead , also got a free replacement.
I later found out that they are a awesome battery if it is in use daily, when they set and set like a street rod car they drain down.
thats what the battery co. told me anyway. The acid battery in the car now is two year old and always up and ready.:bigthink:
