Mule Drive

The side where the arrow is sticks out the front more than the other side...Is this normal, how it was made or am I missing something? I know the center is bent and I straightened that after this was taken, but none of the welds are broken! Had me perplexed.

Its probably not square, check the corners with a square and you'll probably find its bent in a diamond shape.

Agree. That could show up when you latch it in the quick attach.

Let me clarify...The U shape piece in the photo isn't what I am talking about. it is the bottom part on the right in the photo. The point of that is sticking out further on that side than the other. I have gone over this thing and there are no welds broken that would allow that to move like it is. I am beginning to think that is the way it was originally welded up. All the shafts line up fine...I was just puzzled as to why it may be out like that on one side

It's kind of obvious that at some point in it's life it ran into something and got tweaked a bit. A BFH and a vise and a couple love taps and you should be able to straighten it out. I just straightened one out this past summer that was in way worse shape the that. :beerchug:

If it attaches to the tractor easily I wouldn't worry about it, if it hard to attach then its bent.

I see what you talking about, where the U shaped part is welded to the one side of the quick attach part. It could simply have been bent a little funny at the factory and had to stick out a little farther to be welded square, I wouldent worry about it as long as it locking in on both sides when you mount it.

it goes on rather easily, but that side when attached, flops around a bit. I blame that on my deck...bad idler and spindles needs a lot of work. I was just curious as to why it would be out more on one side...

If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!! :beer2:

Hammer time...

I just worked on a mule that is straight and has that same overhang. On the same side. So I would consider that lip normal in the construction of the mule. Appears they left a little material instead of making an additional cut to the angle.
