CC Storage Building Started
 

I framed most of the storage shed I am building to store my tractors and implements. I am trying to do it as inexpensively as I can. I have a friend who drives a cement truck that got me some leftover mud for next to nothing. This morning I got some distressed lumber that is more than what I need to get this shed and another I need to build done.

This is the slab I poured:

I had a put it in between the backyard fence, a hillside and a redwood tree. I used the biggest area I could.

I got most of the walls framed this afternoon:

It's small, 11' x 14' with a 4' x 8' area in the back. It should be plenty big enough to store my 1000, 1450, #2 tiller, box scraper and off-topic log splitter.

Tomorrow I'll work a short day and get the door opening framed and the front wall completed. I am planning on making a roll-up door and getting some garage door tracks and hardware. I'll probably make the door 8' wide.

I was out there in jeans and a t-shirt. I probably could have worn shorts it was a beautiful day and a relief from all the rain we have had this month.

Bob, looks like you are off to a very rapid start. I didn't know if you used treated lumbar for your sill plate or put a moisture barrier on it. Whatever dimensions you decided on, double them for future plans.:biggrin2: My collection has grown more rapidly than my storage will allow, so I am entertaining the idea of putting up an 18' x 21' steel storage building to catch the overflow.

I'm in California where Cub Cadets are almost non-existent. I don't think I'll fill the shed anytime soon.

They delivered the lumber at 12 noon and I had what you see done by 4. Today will be a short day because it is Christmas Eve. I will drill holes in the slab and sill and bolt it down with Red Heads. If I can get the outside sheeted with T1-11 plywood I'll call it a day.

Next I need to stack the roof and finish it. I am planning on framing a gable roof. I have to join two roofs because of the section in the back. I have never done that before and I am looking forward to the challenge.

Now that you have the shed under way and said the above, they will come up for free locally, LOL

Looks like a nice little shed, as long as you have a couple "cubby" holes:ROTF2:
In the rafters to shove up the usual shop " junk" your destined to accumulate you'll be good to go.

I am having a great time stacking the roof. I haven't joined two gable roofs with unequal spans before. It's fun figuring out the angles and cuts.

I plan on putting my 1000, 1450, mower deck, tiller and BB-360 scraper in there. I also have an old Lickety Log Splitter and a bunch of smaller items that will end up in there too.

I tried to use as much available space as possible. I hope it doesn't take long to fill it up.

Tomorrow I have to finish the jack rafters, collar ties and I hope to get the fascia on. After that sheeting and roofing. We have a break in the rain right now and I want to take advantage of the weather.

good job bob...it is fun, i miss that too.. used to do rough in/stick framing, in my younger days...are those red woods in your yard??? that is cool
