Not a Cub, from finally got it running after 8 years!
 

This doesn't partain to a cub, but my wife has a 99 Polaris 500 sportsman 4x4. It sat in our basement since 2007. I tried once to get it running, with no luck. Well a few weeks ago I pulled the carb flushed the fuel tank. I cleaned the carb put it back on and no luck. Took it off again cleaned it again, blowing it out good, setting the float. I had to get new 4mm Allen head bolts for the carb because I stripped one of the Phillips head screws. I put some 92 gas with sea foam in and it fired up! I ran it awhile then set the idle and adjusted the throttle cable. I'm M pretty proud that have gotten this thing to run again after 8 years! Needs a battery, I made extensions for the battery tray and used a mower battery for now. Needs new tires and a good wash an new tires. One thing to note, I hate atv carbs ! Not very easy to get to. is that a 4 stroke polaris or the old two stroke style? i had a 400L that was 2 stroke and i hated it. now i have a good ole Honda 300 fourtrax 4 stroke. i agree on the carbs on them. working on carbs on the old ATC's was MUCH easier

Nice job Brian, I have the 700 sportsman, great quads in my opinions, I call mine "the camo couch" because after owning blasters, banshees, and a 250r this one is beyond comfortable. It's cool that it's your wife's too. I got my wife a roached out Lakota and painted it pink for her, not too much time to ride with small kids anymore but one of them already loves it. And yeah ATV carbs are nightmares to get at depending on how many shrouds and guards need to taken out and then let the shoehorning begin.

Thanks guys! Shaner, it's a 4 stroke. It was a a devil to work on. Service manuals are kinda hard to find online. I guess for fear of copyright infringement. Some diagrams were calling the idle screw an air screw and some were calling a totally different screw the idle screw. I had to remove the air box , one fuel tank mount and some sort of intake breather pipe from the side. I had to remove the throttle cover on the handle bar to get at the throttle cable to look at it and the cable was out of adjustment too. After I adjusted that it would idle on its own. Old girl needs a bath bad and tires but seems to run great! Very peppy!! I'm starting to get good at working on this old stuff! Lol next up a temromental wizard garden tiller!

Not for sale, least right now! Prob gonna get some tires an the right battery, I have a mower battery in it temporary. It was given to my wife by her grandpa, he lost the title.

I got this '85 Big Red for $350 and all it needed was a carb clean and tune up. I have to agree with you guys on getting to the carb is a pain. But I find them really easy to clean personally. I've had many 3 wheelers and I'd like to get something like a Polaris, although Im a pretty hardcore Honda guy. :bigthink:
