Random Cub pics

4 Attachment(s)
I just thought I'd share some random pics from my cub folder. Up first, is the 100 I had about 6 years ago. The wheels were loaded and the weights were made from manual trans Chevy flywheels and it was a tank. Up next, is a before and after pic of the 122 I sold a few years ago.

I grew up on a 71 with no fenders. I never used it much in the snow, but did use it to spread clover in the spring into our wheat, so I had it in the mud plenty. Looks like the tires throw snow just like they threw mud!

Looks like that 122 was in really good shape even before the restore!

Do you like to rebuild/restore and sell them, Tim? Or just like projects? I notice you buy and sell them now and again.

the 122 was nice from a distance but it was painted with a brush and looked horrible up close and the engine was rebuilt by the po but the governor let go so i had to rebuild it again. i like projects, most times i have more fun building them than using them. i sold the 122 because it was getting scratched up and it really bothered me so when i did my 108 i went out of my way not to make it to nice so i wouldn't mind using it.

That's part of the reason that I haven't painted any of mine yet. But.... the other part is just time. I can paint very well, and have all the equipment, but no paint booth..... I hate when I get overspray, or bugs, or the temp isn't just right. I'd probably enjoy it more if I didn't have to do as much work just to get set-up to paint.

Heah Tim, those are some good looking Cubs ! Do you have any up close pics of your homemade wheel weights? I redid my 1200 a few years back it's got some scratchs on it, it's all good with me though, gives it character! It was meant the work.

No pics of the weights, I didn't make them but was told they were flywheel's from a manual trans Chevy. Each side had 3 and each one was over an inch thick, no idea how much they weighed but if I had to guess I'd say 100lbs per side.

Nice Cubs!! I'll be the first to admit I ain't much good at paint unless I REALLY take my time and even then the results aren't that great. But for some reason, I still seem to always find a can of spray paint in my hand., and I always feel I have to use all the contents of it. An example of this can probly be found on the pics on this site of my 129, as it's clearly present in real life.

Painting with a can rarely leads to a quality job. The fact is that spray paint isn't designed for large areas so when you try to paint something larger like a cub often times you either end up with a dry rough texture or runs. I paint cars and can make them look like a sheet of glass but I can't use spray paint on a large area to save my life.
