982 bound
I have a lead on a 982. Dual remotes, 3pt and PTO is says. Single brake though. I am pretty stoked, but concerned. Pics look good, but they tried to get it running. Start fluid on the fender and jumper cables hanging. It sat in a garage/basement for years and was (supposedly) running when parked. yada yada. Concerned the engine is toast. Or these guys damaged it trying to fire it. I plan to take a battery and a fuel squirter to check it out myself. What do you guys think I should look for. Price would be good if a runner. Fair if not.
Kinda eager to put a second super in the stable. |
Guy only wants to trade for 4x4 truck or quad. Changed his mind from his original post. Not going to happen with me...

This one went bad fast.

Too bad on that deal going south. |
Wait....leave your name and number with him and a standing offer with a time limit. That is what I usually do. If no offers come his way, then he may give you a call and things may work out for you....otherwise, it just wasn't meant to be and move on. Hopefully, you will have some good luck on it!

Wondered about the single brake control. Pics did not show that side. Machine looks nice with potential. At least from pics. Have not seen in person. No battery and appears they jumped it and tossed starting fluid at it. I fear what they don't know about engines or this machine. BTW - I only texted with him so far. CL add started with $500. Sounded good to me :-) But while we conversed that was deleted and has a trade option. I asked how much but he really only wanted to trade. Suspect a kid looking to score a big toy that someone told him was worth the mint. Sad given in current state it does not run.
He is aware of my interest and has my number, but I think I will improve that with an offer/time limit as suggested. |
I'm pretty sure the 982 came standard with the single brake pedal and the dual pedals was an option.

I agree with the parts book not showing internal brakes..... but according to Oscar Will's book, turning brakes were an option on all the 982's. I've seen them before without them also. I have a spec sheet book, but it doesn't specify anything on brakes, so my only back up is Oscar's book. |
