K-301 in a model 126
I bought another model 126 today. So now I have two... How come on the engines that are both kohler 12hp. One of the oil dipstick goes into the top right front of the block and one of them goes into the left side of the engine?

Ok, will the crankshafts be the same do you know? The original engine is a k301. The other engines description tag is warn so I can't read it.
|
if there both k301 the cranks will be the same.
|
K241, 301, and 321 all use the same crankshaft.

Also not to nit pick but there are subtle differences in the k301 when compared to the 321 or 341. The 301 cranks do not have full counter weights. |

I don't know about the counter weights.... If it's a pulling engine, it should be a balanced rotating assembly, so it could be corrected. |
Being it's 12hp and your saying that it is newer. What models could I match it up with to find out what model it really is?

chance's are the motor with the side dipstick may have balance gears, that was one of the reasons they moved them from the top, the 301 crank has lighter balance weights
