Front wheel problems on the 1200
2 Attachment(s)
Good morning folks, In my rebuild of this 1200, I have a mismatched set of front rims, they are 8" x 5-3/8" ,with One side recessed
Please pardon my lack of knowledge but which direction are they suppose to mount? Deep end out, or shallow in out? The mismatch is both have the valve stems on different sides, In other words one has the valve stem on the deep side, the other is on the shallow side Thats why I am considering 2 new wheels. thank you Dave |
Deere had the valve stem on the deep side.
CC's are supposed to mount deep side in, shallow out with the valve stems on the outside. |
Narrow Frame wheels had the deep dish out with the valve stem on the out side.
Wide Frame wheels had the deep dish to the inside with the valve stems on the shallow (out) side. Looks like you have a Narrow Frame Wheel and a Wide Frame wheel. If you try to use the NF wheel with the stem toward the inside the stem will hit the spindle when it goes around, unless you get some REALLY short stems (they are available). |
That makes sense to me. I think I've solved the problem for now, I found a 1" long valve stem, that although its on the inside, It does clear the spindle assembly. The one that was on the tractor when i got it,had a very old tire & tube, and the valve stem was laid over to avoid hitting the spindle.
thanks Dave |
You'll get it figured out Dave. I know the feeling about mismatched rims. I had two different rears on my 100. Sandblasted them, painted them and mounted the tires before I realized they weren't the same:bash2:
