New to me 1650

Hi, first post. Just found a 1650 pretty cheep and picked it up yesterday. In decent shape, little rusty. It runs ok. Everything seems to work good. Needs the correct belt for the mower, the one it has is 1/2" and it slips off. I know it needs motor mounts because one side of the motor is kind of loose. Other than a complete tune up is there anything else I should worry about if it still seems solid. Don't want to spend too much on it yet. I've checked the driveshaft and it is good and solid. I'm hoping just the engine mounts are it for now. If anyone has suggestions on things to check, and how, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Oh, how I wish I had a 1650. The Quietline is a great tractor, once those pesky engine mounts are fixed.

These two pages from the tech section explain the genuine Cub Cadet motor mounts and the suggested and highly recommended engine cradle modification to help with vibration.

Quietline Motor Rail Modification

(Maybe someone will help me with the links.)

I did the engine cradle modification and replaced the motor mounts with the kit as shown in all four corners. It made a world of difference on my 1250. I replaced the engine mount bolts and gently tightened each one to get the least amount of vibration. It took paitence and a couple of months worth of playing, but was worth every minute of it.

Good luck with your tractor. You will love it!

Hope to tackle the mounts this weekend. I plan on doing the cradle mod and other things this winter. Just need it running good for this summer.

Also where do I download the service manual. I found the operators manual. Need to figure how to get the deck off.

Might want to check the aluminum pan as well, my mounts on my 1450 were shot and the pan rubbed enough that it was leaking, bought a cast pan off eBay and now all is good.

Yep got to check that too. I'm worried because facing the tractor the right side of the engine is very loose. I hope the dang bolts are still there. :)

Congratulations on your 1650! One thing, is the deck a 44a or 50a? They use a 1/2 belt. The c series decks use a 5/8.
