2072 hydrostatic running rough?
hey guys just bought a 2072 a couple of months ago...the transmission seems to be for lack of better terms sticky and jerky...my 1810 is much much smoother....I did not change the filter yet but fluid level is good..just trying to get some ideas before I get into it? thanks in advance

Change the hydro oil and filter. Who knows when it was last changed by the PO, could be 10 years for all you know.

Big congrats on the new addition!!! Enjoy them now....13 or 14 years from now it won't be so much fun when they are both teenagers! Written by someone that has only one 15yo and spends much time in my shop retaining my sanity!!

twingard, I don't know if this pertains to your situation or not, but when I picked up an 1872, it was as you said "sticky and jerky" too. The previous owner really tightened down hard on the nut that controlled the friction on the hydro lever. This caused a lot of extra effort and would not move smoothly to make hydro adjustments. I would try as was previously suggested to change the filter and oil since you may not know when it was last done, but keep this in the back of your mind in case the previous owner was fiddling with this too.
BTW - Congratulations on the new additions! |
thanks frank..thats what it feels like to me that theres something tight in the lever or the linkage...but who knows ill def. keep that in mind.. thanks for the input frank...and thanks for the congrats mom and daughter doing well
