2182 w 60" Haban setup?
 

I am having some issues getting my deck setup properly. I have done some looking and haven't found a 60" Haban exactly like mine to compare setups. My deck seems to be seriously abused for having less than 700 hours on it. I am having a problem with loose belts and lifting the deck. I do know I am missing the bracket at the rear that helps keep the deck running straight but I don't really think that's my problem. I am in need of that rear bracket if anyone has one they would sell. I did just notice that the rear mounting has lots of play where the long shaft goes to hold the rear of the deck. There are 3 holes in the mount on the deck and I am not exactly sure witch one I should be using. Here are some pics to show what I have. It will be easier than trying to explain it. I am looking for some advice to help me get this thing working correctly. Thank You in advance.

Here is how I set mine up. Don't know if it is correct but it works.

Look at pic #3, I see 2 things to check. The eye bolt is really wearing into the bottom of the mule drive, something fishy there. Also, check the tractors lift bracket that's more or less under the foot rest (it has a pin welded to it)--I think this is for mounting front mounted equipment. It looks like yours has rubbed a little, make sure somehow it isn't jamming the top of the mule drive. I know it will make the purists mad but I sawed mine off because it kept hitting the mule drive on my 2072. Not suggesting you hack into it like I did, just make sure it isn't binding something.

The arm under the footrest is for lifting things like a front blade or snow blower. Cutting it off will ensure the machine won't be running such items. You really need to get that rear guide in place. The wear at the front eye is from it trying to stop deck movement. There are a few other places you can see trying to be the deck "guide as well. Like that lift arm... If the deck is getting out of position and making contact in all those wrong places, you cannot be sure the belt is not hitting somewhere as well.

Thanks for the advise. I do know I have many wear spots to repair. At this point I want to make sure all the attachment points are in the proper location and that I have the proper undercarriage for the deck so I can get it to go up and down properly before I start with my repairs. I don't want to spend time repairing everything if I have the incorrect setup. The rear of the deck will lift an inch off the ground and the front just barely comes off the ground. Something is not correct. I have no issues lifting my Brinly rear grader blade with the 3 point so I don't believe the problem is with the hydraulic lift.

Thanks for the pics. Are you using the original cub cadet belt with your setup? Mine will not work with the rear mount in the hole that yours is in, the belt wouldnt hardly touch the pulleys, it would be too long. I see our undercarriage is different, yours has four holes and mine has three. I wonder if they are the same length?

Sam is the expert and maybe he will chime in here shortly. If the front is not raising you need to adjust the front mount so it touches sooner.

By no means an guru on these. Just picked one up myself.
But looking at your pictures, it looks to be in the correct locations. Mine has a spring loaded attachment on the rear of the deck, similar to our older decks. Where there is only one attachment location, unlike yours with three.
There obviously has been alot of slop going on by the amount of wear in certain locations. The rear mount (stabilizer) I think would help immensely.
Isn't a bit of wear on mine that I saw. I can snap some pictures tomorrow if you think it would be beneficial.

For the mule drive, I had to use a Gates B90 for correct fit. That puts my adjustment mid point. I have a mix match of PTO and deck pulley sizes. I have what Sam Mac identified as an early deck and I have a later 2182 One difference I notice when looking at pictures of these decks is my lifting assembly. I have no double plated any where on the lift frame assembly. It does show signs of having been repaired, straightened at some time prior to my acquisition. I've mowed probably 8-10 hours and all seems well at this point. If you want specific measurements, I can get them. HTH

I got some time to work on my 2182 and 60" Haban. I realized part of my problems were caused by a well worn tortion spring on the mule drive. I bought a new spring from my Cub Cadet dealer for $8.00. I brought it home and compared it to the old one and wow was the old one weak compaired to the new one. Installed it made a huge difference in the tightness of the belt. At this point I believe my biggest problem has been taken care of. Next I will be removing the whole undercarriage and welding up all the worn spots and grinding them smooth to get it close to new. I located the alignment bracket for the rear of the deck from one of the members here, with it hopefully everything will not wear so badly again. I also plan to order a set of deck bearings and replace them at the same time that I do all the welding. It's amazing how some people can niglect such an expensive machine. Thanks for the help.
