Cub cadet 129 PTO question!

I called a guy on a 129, which he says the only problem he is aware of is, the pto will not disengage. My question is, would the button in the pto be the cause of it, and how hard of a repair could it be? Thanks

It could be, but rebuilding the entire PTO is not that big of a deal.

its hard to say, could be an adjustment. could be buttons, if the buttons are gone you could need a lever and fingers on the pto, could be a seized bearing behind the pto, repair could be simple could be difficult if you need to take the pto off. you'll have to look at it and be the judge

Ok, thanks for the reply. I just wanted to have an idea of what I would be getting into it I brought it home. Which a deck and front blade he is asking 350 obo so I figure it's worth looking at. Thanks again.

Nope, the problem is that the engine is running.

Shut the engine off and the pto quits spinning.

Cant get that with satellite

If the pto is one with the safety disk, which I believe came out in 1974 and it is missing one of the disk, then it could be difficult to find parts for. I have had more 129's than any other cub cadet in my collection. Some have had older style pto's on them and some have had the safety disk pto's on them. So, your repair may be simple and cheap or it could be a bit more involved and a bit more expensive! Pictures would help...

Some guy on epay sells the brake disk for the brake style pto's (just the brake material, not the steel disk that it is bonded to.

And yes, Cub Cadet 123 is exactly right, if parts are missing, it will be little more expensive and a little more involved.

If the engine runs well and doesn't smoke, I believe it is well worth the money.

My 71 PTO quits spinning every time I shut the engine off. I thought that was normal.
