The KY 782 ??? is MTD
Not at all what I expected, on several levels. MTD, not IH. Not in the condition I was expecting. 682 on hood, (no biggy). More rust than showing in pictures.
And 4700 hours on meter! But, runs nice . I should have driven the 60 miles each way to look for my self. So grin and work harder! :biggrin2: Has the 44C deck (with noisy bearings). Has the Cub "3PT", but no sleeve or pulling hitch. Frame to axle bolts tight. Now, some info please. Model: 143782399 Serial #2050601U721118 Where can I find data info for MTD built CCs. Is it actually a 782, and what year? It does have the hydraulic lift. Any other information, I need to be especially mindful of? And I promise not to be a pest, with loads of unnecessary questions, if you all will just get me past these first few. :BlahBlah: Thanks, |
I do not much about these. Does it have a cast rear? Some of the early MTD's had cast, but I am not sure how many. If it is aluminum then it is a MTD. With that many hours, I would think it would be on at least its second engine and maybe a third.

Aluminum rear.

Believe the Owner's Manual in the Technical section would apply...

That link appears to be for the IH models.

Yep, that is a 1983 782. Be careful if it has the Cub 3 point on the aluminum rear unless it has the bracket like Xtreme makes. This machine should have the "maintenance minder" type hour meter so I'm thinking the hours are not correct. Lets see some pics.:beerchug:

The more I look, the more I think the hour meter is right. Desperate for maintenance (which I've already started). No pics for a while. It's ashamed to have it's portrait taken, just yet.

Pulled engine tins and cleaned everything out. Note: some stuff called, Awesome, is a great de-greaser, and it's cheap! Pulled plugs to remove tins, and left side is running rich, or maybe the right is lean. Going to check for vac leaks. Adjusted travel control linkage. Removed old seat pan, for replacement. Guess I'll go to Tractor supply tomorrow. Never had a new garden tractor seat. Decisions. Hate to spend a lot on a seat. Someone will just buy the tractor, (like they did the Case today :biggrin2:), and I will just have to start over. sigh....!!
