Help with belt on 44a

good evening folks, Pardon my ignoramus, but its been a long week at work
with a bunch of late night call outs, I'm getting confused on the belt.
I need a belt for my 1200 with a 44a. The belt I was given with the package is an old IH59971c1
About to finish up my rebuild project, and this belt dont fit, too small (short)
Looking at Parts tree it gets confusin
My tractor serial is 590921 and my deck # is 0320017u072463

they show 3 different belts

any help would be great for these tired eyes
thank you
Dave

We have libraries for tractors and implements with most all of the info you would need. Belt size will depend upon the size of the center spindle as seen below.

44",50" W/4.5" PULLEY IH-59971-C1
3/8 X 78"

44", 50" W/5.0" PULLEY IH-117465-C1
3/8 X 79"

Our belt chart:

Just out of curiosity, when you are putting the belt on, are you pushing the arm that extends out the front of the tractor that is attached to the right idler pulley, as you sit on the tractor, in and locking it to allow more room to mount the belt. You will also need to back off the nut on the adjuster bolt on the other pulley to allow it more room to move back, then adjust it correctly according to the owner's manual?

You can download the manual for the deck at the link below. It will help step you thru the process of installation and belt adjustment.

I pushed the ratchet tensioner in and locked it in, and unscrewed the J bolt all the way to the end. I got the belt on, very tight, and with ratchet released
the 2 pulley were pointed way back from where they shoud be
My pulley measures 5" across

thank you

I think i need the Ih117465c1 that says its
A 3/8" x79. Napa doesnt even show a 3/8
But they do have a 1/2" x 79
Will this work?

Thanks

I would get the right belt. saves headaches.

Try the sponsors or ebay, that belt is not hard to find.

Yep get the correct belt. The others will only end up shredding eventually. At least that is what I have experienced.

I have a 1200 with a 44a. I wasn't 100% sure what would fit, given all the options. So I went with the cheapo option ($7):

http://www.vbeltsupply.com/oem-repla...s-case-ih.html

Fits good, working fine after 2 mows. Reading this reminded me to order a couple more now that I know they fit. If they don't last through the season I'll spring for the real thing.

If you go this route order a few of them - it's $7 a belt but $9 shipping whether you get one or more.

I think that link is the 78" belt. He needs the 79" since he has the 5" pulley.

Yes the 59971 is to short
My dealer has 1 of the 79" belts
Hope to get there before he closes

I just hope it works and i dont need the 80 or 81"
