MTD/Cub GTS 3225 will not stay running after 5 seconds...
well... i got her running finally... grounded the green wire... have to click the key over a few times like the solenoid is not getting a good connection... i think this ebay starter is junk apparently... anyways, mowed last week with it.. it shut off on me a few times towards the end but i got the job done... i go out today expecting it to fire right up...WRONG!!!... figured it was a fuel issue.. tried to keep it running with starting fluid.. no go.. will run for 4 or 5 secs then die...
another thing i noticed when trying to start, i keep fiddling with the key tyring to start, click click click, it will finally turn over... if i do this 15 times or so, it basically quits clicking and seems like the battery is dead but its not, come back 5 min later and it clicks just fine -i wired the fuel shut off solenoid directly to the battery and it clicks like it should, but not when i turn the key over. some things i noticed when i bought it -fuel shutoff solenoid has been clipped -relay under the hood has been taped down in position furthest to the front i have replaced/rebuilt: new starter and solenoid assembly speed advance module both coils keyway rebuilt carburator and just rechecked it today, fuel in the bowl before i rebuilt i tried starting it with the fuel shutoff solenoid wired to the battery, would not stay running... all sensors are hooked up as far as i can tell... i guess my main question is.. are there any sensors that are designed to cut power to the ignition? im out of ideas with this thing and about to put it up for sale... im about done dumping money in this thing... love the mower but cant continue to do this...any help is greatly appreciated... |
I won't be much help with the running issue but the starter/solenoid clicking issue I can. Somewhat common issue with the Commands, here's a how to on how to improve that situation:

i had this thing apart for almost a year... not sure if i put the grounds where they are supposed to be but... the neg battery is grounded to the left side of the engine block.. green wire i grounded on one of the starter bolts... and one off of the speed advance module. I cant remember if there are any more or not... could someone chime in on that?
